Our Ashram

The Challenge of Interbeing

An Ashram at the End of Time

Our transformational community was established as a result of the direct observation that we are near societal breakdown on a global level. Our historical moment fits the description offered by all the ancient sages that we are in the dark age at the end of time, and in fact very close to the Eschaton.
We are not followers of any of the ancient traditions, although we continue to learn from all of them as we break new ground in our efforts to transcend the stupidity of our narcissistic ego structures. We have learned the hard way that life is about relationality, and the process of psychospiritual development is the ongoing shift from an initial state of ignorance and self-concealment in a false persona—usually one that is dumbed-down, overstimulated, immature, nihilistic, and cynical. Our first transposition is into a more open and honest approach to interpersonal relating. The second shift is into a deeper level of intersubjective relating. The third stage is that of interbeing, when the One Self is perceived manifesting in all beings in perfection.
Nomads and Mad Nobodies
Most of us were not religious, or even spiritual in our attitude toward life. We did not arrive here because we chose to renounce worldly pleasures, but because we did not fit in and we saw the futility of life in the exhausted and collapsing capitalist system . . . or else we came as nomads without a destination—some just mad at the world, having failed even as a nobody.
Over time, the responsibilities of sustaining a community, growing food, offering hospitality and training to retreatants from around the world, and serving as both role models and patients in this asylum styled as a wisdom school have refined our characters and given us at least a taste of divine love. We are not here to pass on any dogma, to enlist anyone to follow our lifestyle, or to give out certificates. We are playing for higher stakes: our own Liberation.

"Living in a community dedicated to raising consciousness is a great privilege and opportunity—and the ultimate challenge, the final rite of passage." ~ Shunyamurti

Our Mission

We understand, of course, that the chief responsibility of our residential sangha is to sustain an energy field that emanates peace, joy, compassion, acceptance, love of learning, and wisdom of the Heart—expressed as cheerfulness, harmony, friendship, cooperation, and forgiveness. And we are engaged in the constant practice of recognizing that all of reality is the holographic projection of a single Infinite Consciousness.
Our ashram was founded in 2009 and has miraculously weathered many storms, thanks to the dedication, generosity, creative innovation, and faith of the founding members and those who have come after them to carry the torch forward. We know that success cannot be measured in quantitative terms, but only in the quality of our consciousness. That is why this life of mental and emotional purification is so satisfying. We have experienced the two extremes of dark and light, hatred and love, and we have made our choice: the unity of Goodness, Truth, and Beauty.

We Thank God for Our Donors
The magnanimity of donors, members of our online sangha, has been and continues to be life-saving. We have also flourished thanks to the endless flow of new teachings—always more profound and powerful—transmitted through our yogic research director, Shunyamurti.
We are not ordinary preppers or mere survivalists. But we do foresee the imminent collapse of civilization, and we hope to endure peacefully through the time of tribulations, offering uplifting truths to help others cope with their karmic situations, to save our own souls, to provide a refuge for other seekers, and to keep serving God for so long as our assistance on this plane is required.
In this video, recorded during an outdoor satsang, Shunyamurti explains some of the work of the community and the vision for a network of flourishing, self-sustaining spiritual communities.
