What is Spiritual Progress?

The highest and most important practice is karma yoga, meaning that we lead an active life of service to God, community, and world while in full realization that all is consciousness, nothing is outside consciousness, and thus no one is working and nothing is happening—only the manifestation of the free Self-expression of the Supreme Intelligence.

Loyalty and courage in dedicated service to one’s community is the real heroism needed now. Not only is egoless service the way we can all contribute to uplifting the world, but it is the direct path to spiritual liberation. Such authentic karma yoga also yields the benefit of making the yogi immune to suffering in even the most catastrophic situation—which more and more of us are facing every day. It is such practical modeling of the power of Truth and Love that alone can bring about the rise of a divine world order.

Question:

In the videos of Shunyamurti I have seen thus far, I notice a great emphasis on dealing with challenges by working internally. The Covid situation is very disheartening to me as it is to many. I feel lack of control and helplessness about the propaganda, the fear mongering, the restrictions on commerce and civil liberties. I am inclined to be an “activist”, to write to representatives, to protest, and act in civil disobedience. In light of what I perceive in Shunyamurti’s teachings, is it counterproductive for me, for my spiritual journey to act as an “activist” the way I decribed it? How can internal work, solely, change the reality I am witnessing in the world?

Shunyamurti’s Reply:

Thank you for your inquiry. Clearly, we are witnessing the collapse of planetary civilization. This is the end of Kali Yuga, and of the entire cycle of time. Our task is not to resist this death, but to speed it up, and to prepare for a new rebirth at a higher level of consciousness. This requires us to realize the Supreme Self, thus raising the vibrational frequency of the noosphere and drawing suffering souls to the Light and Love of healing and redemption.

In this realization, it becomes clear that the whole apparent cosmos is a single intelligence, and its life and death are both perfect. In the return to the Singularity of God Consciousness, all karma is settled and a new world free of suffering can manifest. Realizing the God Self is the only activism that is both effective and beneficial. Blessings for liberation from the illusion of existence as a bodily being in a world. Only the One Light is Real. May you know this Light as your Self and the Self of all.
