You Are Not the Character You’re Playing

The Eschaton is a new beginning. A heavenly world is being prepared for those souls with the courage to attain the deathless consciousness that is revealed once the false ego has been jettisoned. The cosmos is a dream in the Mind of Shakti, the energy of the God-Self. Now, She is ending this dream that has become a nightmare and returning to Shiva, the unmanifest Supreme Intelligence. Then, in joyous union, Shiva and Shakti will dream a wondrous new adventure, a magical Golden Age inhabited by gods and goddesses with astonishing powers beyond our current imagination. Your passport to that miraculous realm is the Light of Grace you will receive in the instant of Self-realization. This is the focus of our upcoming retreat.

So long as there is identification with the body and its mental operating system, consciousness resists its own liberation from the bondage of suffering, for the sake of its petty and momentary enjoyments. And yet, all that is illusory, a mere hallucination. The Self is always free!

It is not useful to try to silence the mind. Instead, become curious about how much you could expand your consciousness, how much more intelligence you could activate, and what new wisdom you could download. Or perhaps you might wonder how it feels to encounter the Presence of God. Or you might want to know the experience of divine grace, or becoming divinized. Any of these interests will lead you beyond thought to the Stillness of the Absolute.

God has gifted us all with the power of self-reflective awareness, which includes the ability to let go of obsolete, false, and delusional beliefs—and to question even those beliefs and assumptions that are most cherished by the ego. In fact, the ego itself is just a delusional belief system that deep reflection will dissolve.

Once language is installed in our mind, and we identify with a body image via the name it has been given, consciousness finds itself detoured into an unreal plane of representation. From then on, an endless stream of mental chatter carries off the attention into memories, fantasies, reveries, and various sorts of delusional orientations, confusing projections with reality, and living through a fictional character, without noticing our alienation from the Real. Clear discernment and dispassion are necessary to extricate our awareness from the inauthentic self. This is the first obstacle that must be overcome on the spiritual journey.

The ego today is programmed to alternate between hyper-activity and depressive self-attack or spacing out with passive distractions. These drives are modes of running away from the Real Self. The ego is never at peace. But there is a margin of overlap between the ego identification and presence in the soul. This is called the sattvic state. In this vibrational track, there is power to relax and enter the Heart to feel the balm of divine love. In this state, one can surrender to the Supreme Self and will receive the grace that enables liberation from the parasitic program of the ego.
